Author Introduction – Julianna Chase
Hi, I’m Julianna Chase—romance author, storyteller, wedding caterer, and chaser of the defining moments in everyday life.
Whether I’m writing a YA love story or frying up a skillet of something bold and buttery, I’m always chasing the same thing: the sizzle. The spark. That one line—or that one bite—that makes you stop and feel.
Here’s what you should know about me:
-
I believe cast iron skillets carry soul.
-
I think a perfectly written love scene and a golden, gooey cookie are just a bunch of ingredients—until you add heat.
-
And I’m chasing both: love and flavor, because those are the things that shape the moments that define us.
My husband is the love of a lifetime, and together we’ve raised three rowdy boys. In our house, we throw the ball in the living room and toss dinner rolls across the kitchen. So far, they’ve broken three couches, countless bones, and even more windows. As tall as their daddy now, they look over my shoulder, kiss me on the top of my head, and steal bites of whatever’s simmering on the stove.
With my sleeves rolled up, I’ve taken the heart of this beautiful mess of a life and poured it into the pages of my novels—guided by one question: What would he say if I met him today?
The beginning is a beautiful thing. So whether you’re young and searching for forever love, or you’re seasoned like an old skillet with memories that still stir your soul, come along for the ride.
Keep chasing,
Julianna Chase

Love this charming, coming of age romance with its century old mystery and its mountain danger. Can a book really make you relive that first moment when the earth fell from beneath your feet and the only thing that could catch you was him? Read it and see.

Steamy, emotional, and full of strong family ties, fresh coffee and pie, this small-town romance brings heart, heat, and all the feels. You won't want to put it down!

Chasing the Wind had me hooked from the very beginning! The charming characters are beautifully developed, you can picture each of them throughout the storyline. The nostalgic history of the town coupled with the relevance of the current events make this book timeless. I look forward to reading more books by Julianna Chase!

If fair, Verona had pine trees and coal mines and a killer jawline. If you know you Ben.

Chasing the Wind
A Novel by Julianna Chase
Arms firmly crossed, Elle Cooper left California in a moving truck headed east. Prom had been a disaster, and she watched it disappear in her rearview mirror as she was dragged away by her father’s dream to bring wind energy back to his West Virginia hometown. Designer suitcase and bitter breakup in tow, she set out on his “rediscover your roots” journey. Coming of age was definitely on her to-do list—but right now, that felt like the least of her worries.
A quick Google search didn’t inspire much hope:
New Home: An antebellum ghost of a house. Renovations required.
Topography: Rural Appalachian Mountains. Fantastic.
Political Affiliation: Red. That should be interesting.
Upcoming Events: A swanky 4th of July gala. Define swanky.
Job Market: Coal mine day worker, lift operator, laborer. Wait… coal mine?
While exploring a piece of family land she couldn’t feel less connected to, Elle stumbles onto a neighboring farm full of free-range chickens, a smug milk cow, and one frustratingly good-looking local boy named Ben. Boots, eyes, jawline. Trouble. The kind of trouble that makes her forget she wanted to leave.
But the town has its secrets—and someone’s willing to go to great lengths to see the wind farm fail. While the conflict between wind and coal divided everyone around them, Elle and Ben were forgotten in the space between.
Through a gold-spun summer, could young love help Elle Cooper find roots in the mountains of West Virginia; and when pulled out of the shadows of Dark Mountain could their hidden romance survive in the light of the 4th of July Gala, where everything will be on display?
